Vienna authorities prepared a special present for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest that will take place in Vienna this year. Within the preparation for the contest, nearly 50 “stop-walk” signs at the traffic lights were replaced by the new ones with pairs, including homosexual ones, walking or waiting together. Now, instead of a single man waiting or walking sign, one may see a pair with holding hands together signs.

Town authorities say that by this act they want to increase road safety, thus decreasing the number of road accidents. They also added that they hope that this innovation will increase the level of tolerance and equality in the society as many people nowadays don’t treat gay couples rightly.

The international Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Vienna on May 18 – 23. It is known for its spectacular performances and last year’s winner, the bearded queen, Conchita Wurst brought worldwide attention and the privilege to carry out the Eurovision 2015 to Austria.

Contestants from 40 countries will take part in the contest that has been held since 1956 and gathered together almost 200 million viewers all over the world.
