The fatal disaster in Nepal took lives of almost 4,000 people.
A powerful, 7.9 magnitude earthquake took place on Saturday, April, 25 in Nepal. The rescuers are searching for survivors, but the number of victims is at the number of 3,700 and continues to increase. Many affected people are trapped in the mountain areas, because of the damage that the earthquake had done to the communication routes. The roads to these municipalities have been blocked by the landslides. The earthquake also provoked an avalanche that took lives of tourists that were climbing the mountain.
Matt Darvas, the participant of the World Vision aid group told the press that many of the trapped villages can be accessed only by helicopters. He then added that villages, like those are frequently attacked by avalanches and landslides, so it is not a surprise for a village of 1,000 people or less to be buried down.
The catastrophe also took lives of 18 people that were climbing Mount Everest when the horrible event happened. One climber, Carsten Pederson, has survived the disaster, and he told the shocking truth to the media.
Some of the tourists were trying to escape the avalanche, but they didn’t succeed. Many people were taken by surprise and blown off the mountain
– said Pederson.
Officials in countries, neighbors to Nepal informed that at least 61 people were killed in India, and 20 died in Tibet.
