Manufacturer of electric vehicles Tesla Motors has published a video demonstrating a metallic robotic charger, which almost immediately received the nickname Snake.

A 37-second video showing interaction between the prototype and the car Tesla Model S is published in the social accounts of the company.

Fifteen hours after its publication, the number of views on YouTube exceeded 700 thousand, and continues to grow. The company does not comment on video and does not reveal the technical details.

The fact that Tesla Motors is developing an automatic charger was mentioned in December 2014 by Elon Musk:

This prototype is autonomous as it can find its own way to the car’s charging port and to plug in automatically. At the moment, it’s just a prototype, and it may take some time until it will reach production, but we know Tesla, and it means that soon this serpentine charging tendril can really become an alternative to wireless charging.
