If UK and US engineers struck a deal with US Department of Defense, the similar devices as  hoverbikes from the Star Wars could be used by the US military.

US military can use the devices, which function almost the same way as helicopters, in different operations including emergency and aid missions. Its developers also admitted that all further developments would be made in Harford County, Maryland.

So, the great possibility appeared that soon we would be able to see US militants using the similar racers to those, which Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia used to zoom around the forest moon of Endor in one of the movies of the Star Wars franchise.

Mark Butkiewicz, one of the future developers stated:

The Department of Defense is interested in Hoverbike technology because it can support multiple roles. It can transport troops over difficult terrain and when it’s not used in that purpose it can also be used to transport logistics, supplies, and it can operate in both a manned and unmanned asset

Besides, talking about actual use of those Star Wars hoverbikes, Grant Stapleton of the UK firm Malloy Aeronautics explained their advantages over traditional helicopters:

Primarily there’s safety. With adducted rotors you immediately not only protect people and property if you were to bump into them, but if you ever were to bump into somebody or property it’s going to bring the aircraft out of the air

Maryland’s authorities appeared to be delighted with the development as it will provide numerous high-paying jobs to the state. Maryland Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford even joked on the theme:

I think there can be a lot of applications, and maybe I’ll be the fifth or sixth person to ride it. I’m going to wait until a couple of people ride it before me
