NASA found Earth’s possible big brother

The new discovery possesses a few life-critical characteristics, like the location of the planetoid and its size. For now experts can state for sure that Kepler-452b, the discovered planetoid is positioned in the life favorable zone and it is possible that the atmosphere and the water are on the newly discovered planet.

The planet is more alike Earth than the others, found previously.

The ‘Big Brother’ is located on the distance of 14 hundred light-years from our planet in the asterism of Cygnus. It’s size is approximately 60% greater than Earth’s thus making the gravity force twice as biggest than on Earth. Kepler-452b is located a bit further from its ‘Sun’ than Earth, but as it is brighter than our star, it means that the planet gets approximately the equal quantity of energy as our planet. As for the atmosphere, scientists can’t tell for sure if 452b has it, but there is a high probability that the atmosphere there really exists and it would presumably be denser than Earth’s and the planet itself will have live volcanoes.

The period of rotation around the sun is equal to 385 days, a bit bigger than Earth’s 365 days and together with all other discoveries, it has the highest chances for life forms to be created on.

The Kepler project, worth $600 million was launched 5 years ago, and the spaceship currently is at the distance of more than 60 million miles from our home. It’s aim is to examine the light from the stars when large space objects pass in front of the stars. As for now, the mission detected more than a thousand planetoids but only 12 of those are the potential candidates for life coming up on them.

Meanwhile, NASA is planning to go even further and launch the special spacecraft that will search for more planets and will be able to provide humanity with more details of the space objects.
