The laboratory was opened in Paris, thus making the positions of Facebook stronger in the European region.

The representative of Facebook said in a statement that they chose Paris as the city where to start working on the AI because it is considered to be the homeland to one of the smartest scientists on Earth.

But Facebook won’t limit its actions only by opening the research center in Paris, it will also co-operate with the AI research institutions in France and in the whole Europe. Earlier, Facebook has been working on the project, called Facebook AI Research that aims to help workers to riddle through loads of information in the social network.

The company commented the opening as a hope not only to improve the quality of their services like news feed or search service, but also to give users new ways to connect to each other and share the information.

Facebook isn’t the first giant company that invests money into the AI research. Earlier Google threw a lot of resources on the AI research and at the annual IT conference that took place a week ago, the tech giant presented a new application, based on the AI research results, called Now On Tap.
