Obama’s administration have been arguing about the act, allowing the federal government to record phone conversations of millions of Americans.

The Court of Appeals in the United States said that this program is a gross abuse of rights of millions of American citizens. But the Court decided not to stop the program, instead the Court of Appeals sent the case to the lower court with the suggestion to wait for the ending of the debates in the US Congress around this program as the law that regulates it is to expire in a few weeks.

A democrat from California said that this program should be closed as soon as possible with an option for the government to request data from the phone companies only in each individual case and only after these actions were approved by court. He also added that the situation that they are in right now shows that re-approval of this program is politically unsupportable but it is on the wobbly land as well.

Alex Abdo, the ACLU attorney recently tweeted a victory message saying that the Court of Appeals admitted calls recording program unlawful. He also stated that the government was spying on millions of Americans for years covering with national safety arguments.

Mass supervision won’t make any of us safer

– said Abdo.
