Apple joins the list of companies that ban the Confederate battle flag. As a result, it pulls out games about Civil War from App Store.

After the shooting in Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston a lot of major companies, including Amazon.com, Walmart, Sears and Etsy, decided to remove the Confederate battle flag from their content. Few days after the killing of nine black people in church, the images of shooter appeared on web-site. In 17 photos Dylann Roof posed with the gun and the Confederate flag in his hands.

On Thursday, iOS game website Touch Arcade reported that a lot of Civil War games were removed from App Store.

The developer of “Ultimate General: Gettysburg” Game Labs confirmed that the game was removed from App Store on Twitter. It wrote on Thursday: “Apple has pulled the tablet version of the game from Appstore because of the Confederate Flag.”

Apple promised to return the game to App Store after its developers remove the flag. However, creators of the game said they would not do that as the history can’t be changed. They said:

Spielberg’s ‘Schindler’s List’ did not try to amend his movie to look more comfortable. The historical “Gettysburg” movie is still on iTunes. We believe that all historical art forms: books, movies, or games such as ours, help to learn and understand history, depicting events as they were. True stories are more important to us than money

According to Game Labs, they received hundreds of letters from teachers all over the country as the game helps to learn the history.

On Sunday, Tim Cook wrote about the flag on his Twitter account.

The creators of “Ultimate General: Gettysburg” wrote a response to Apple on June 25.
