The match took part on Sunday. US has won Japan with scoring 5-2. According to Nielsen ratings, the game immediately set a record: 25.4 million viewers.

The previous record was set up by the 2014 Brazil World Cup. It gained approximately 18.2 million people, who were watching the match of Portugal.

Between 01:30 and 01:45 BST, the audience reached the point of 30.9 million.

An amazing 13-minute hat-trick was scored by Carli Lloyd and it helped the country to beat Japanese team during the Women’s World Cup. Actually, it is the third American victory at that championship. The first victory was in 1991 and the second in 1999.

The game was held in Vancouver. It has beaten such shows as Big Brother and Celebrity Family Feud. After the match, Fox Sports gained around 14.6 million viewers who were watching post-match analysis.

In United Kingdom only 500,000 viewers sat in front of the TV’s to watch the game. It is only 13% of the total TV audience.

To compare, four days earlier, 1.7 million watched England’s quarter-final match. It is 32% of the whole UK television audience.
