On Monday, The Arizona Cardinals made a historical announcement: a woman will be coaching them!

Jen Welter is going to join NFL coaching staff during the training camp and preseason. As we know, she is the first woman to obtain this position.

On Monday, Bruce Arians, the Arizona Cardinals coach confirmed that Jen Welter will be working with the team. In March, when he was asked about the possibility of having a woman in their team, he said briefly:

The minute they can prove they can make a player better, they’ll be hired

Welter was suggested as a possible coach for the team for the first time in February. When Arians discussed this possibility, he said that gender didn’t matter. The only thing that is really important for him is qualified work.

One thing I have learned from players is, ‘How are you going to make me better? If you can make me better, I don’t care if you’re the Green Hornet, man, I’ll listen

Earlier this year, when Welter joined the Texas Revolution, ESPN stated that she was the first woman hired as a coach in male professional football league.

Although Welter is a woman, she has great achievements in sports. Among them the most significant are 14-year career in professional football, two gold medals for playing for the United States in the International Federation of American Football Women’s World Championship in 2010 and 2013.
