Two murderers managed to escape from the New York prison. They drilled through the steel walls and hid in the underground tunnels.

A 48-year old Richard Matt and 34-year-old David Sweat are the first men who have ever escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York.

According to the governor’s office, the police found a note left by Matt and Sweat. It was located near a hole in pipe. It is possible to see a smiley with a triangle hat and under it it is written: “Have a nice day!”

At a news conference, Andrew Cuomo said that those people are dangerous. He added:

They are nothing to be trifled with

About 200 police officers are searching for the two. During the conference Cuomo described their plan of the escape. It contained drilling steel walls and pipes. According to him, the plan was quite sophisticated.

The murderers shared neighboring cells. The authorities still don’t know how they managed to get special instruments and perform this work without being noticed.

10:30 p.m. on Friday was the last time the guard saw them. Just during the night they managed to create people-shaped figures with their clothes so that the prison workers thought they were still in cells.
