Mother of one of the students was shocked when she got to know that her daughter had to take clothes off during her final exam of visual arts. The whole thing was under the supervision of a naked professor.
When the society got to know about this event, the university has been accused of perversion. At the University of California during the visual arts class students had to sit naked together in a room. The name of the class was “Visual Arts 104A: Performing the Self”. Professor Ricardo Dominguez has a rich experience in conducting such kind of classes. He has been doing that for more than 10 years.
The mother of one girl, who was present at that class, said that she hadn’t sent her daughter to school for this. The only thought about nude classes made her sick to her stomach because, according to her, that was not right. Angry mother said:
There is a perversion going on here. Shame on him and shame on the university. This is a memory she’s going to have to carry around with her for the rest of her life.”
The professor told ABC News that he didn’t see anything bad about visual arts classes as students could totally concentrate on the history of body art and performance. Mr. Dominguez said that at the end of annual nude class students had to do nude gestures. They had to present an installation to say ‘What is more you than you are?’.
According to him, everything was under control. Students were sitting in dark room, light by candles. Students who were not comfortable with gestures, shouldn’t have taken the class.
Dr. Jordan Crandall, Chair of the Visual Arts Department, said that the class was optional and that students could still graduate without it.
