A 10-year-old boy was attacked by a shark at Cocoa Beach, Florida.

The boy and his mother were having a dip at Cocoa Beach, Florida, on Sunday. They were swimming in waist-high water when suddenly the shark bit the boy.

According to Eisen Witcher, Ocean Rescue Assistant Chief of Brevard County, as soon as lifeguards saw the boy having troubles, they took him at the shore and provided him with medical help. They realized that was a shark who attacked him.

The shark severely injured boy’s calf. As a result, he was flown to a hospital in Orlando.

Witcher said:

It was definitely one of the worst ones that we’ve seen in our area that we’ve responded to, mainly because of the size of the bite

He thinks that boy could have been attacked by a juvenile bull shark.

A representative of Brevard County said that the beach was closed for an hour to make sure the shark is gone.

About 10 shark attacks occurred this year at the Brevard County.
