Eight bodies were discovered by the Texas police after a gunshot between officers and a man who opened fire to hinder police from coming inside the house.

The incident happened in Harris County, Texas, on Saturday evening, August 8. The local police officers came to check whether everything was ok after the welfare call which was received by the police that day around 9 p.m., according to Deputy Sheriff Thomas Gilliland.

Despite the fact that nobody opened the door, police knew people were inside, including a 49-year-old man who was accused of aggravated assault of a family member. So the officers called the members of the High Risk Operations Unit to enter the house.

When police was surrounding the house they spotted the body of young kid what prompted them to break in using force. But when officers stepped into the house the man, later identified as  David Conley, started shooting.

However, the Conley surrendered after police called in a hostage negotiator. Neither Conley nor the police officers were injured but after a search of the house 8 bodies, 5 children and 3 adults were found.

At this time we have what appears to be five children and three adults.

– stated Deputy Sheriff Gilliland.

Ages and genders we do not have, and cause of death we do not have. The medical examiner will have to determine a cause of death.

Conley became the main suspect in murders.

Due to the amount of victims and the proximity to the people in the house, it will be a scene where we will be here for a while

– added Sheriff.
