Ione Wells wants to show her 17-year-old rapist that she is not going to become a victim by sending a letter to university newspaper. She said that assault near the tube station is the attack on all community.

An extraordinary letter was written by the sexually abused Oxford student in which she claimed that neither she, nor her family and friends are going to change their lifestyle. They are not going to become victims. Wells also added that her relatives and neighbors will go on getting home on the last tube, walking along their streets alone, because they are not going to establish the feeling of threat in their souls. She is sure that if they continue to come together, they become an army, which no one will be able to threaten.

This proclamation has been widely spread in the Internet and shared on Twitter and Facebook and was praised for encouraging others to speak about their tragic experience without worrying about shame or fear. After Wells publication, a few Oxford students were inspired to open up their dreadful life stories to the public eye. The redaction of Oxford newspaper launched a new project to help such people with normalizing their life and preventing similar cases by encouraging community cooperation.

The Metropolitan police caught the 17-year-old abuser and later he appeared in custody at Highbury Corner court on 13 April where he pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
