The young Missouri woman, Gypsy Blanchard, described as disabled, was accused of murdering her mother Clauddinnea “Dee Dee” Blanchard. Besides, she faces numerous allegations that her family defrauded the society for years.

On Monday, Gypsy was arrested together with her boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn in Wisconsin, more than 500 miles away from her home in Springfield.

They both, Gypsy and Nicholas, are charged with the murder of a first degree. A 48-year-old Dee Dee was found stabbed to death in her bed, after what her daughter was reported missing on Monday.

Friends of the family decided to call police after few suspicious messages appeared on Dee Dee’s Facebook page. Later it was discovered that those messages were posted by Gypsy from her mother account. By doing that from her boyfriend’s home in Wisconsin, she helped police to discover their location.

Talking about Gypsy, she was believed to be disabled for a very long time. All her relatives and friends of the family were sure that the ‘poor’ woman hadn’t been able to walk without assistance or wheelchair. Besides, a long fraud chain connected to Blanchard was investigated by the police. She used online services to ask people for donations, so Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott cautioned the public against donating to the family.

He also stated that police can’t be sure that the family’s report about being victims of Hurricane Katrina was truthful. Clauddinnea “Dee Dee” Blanchard relocated with her daughter to the Ozarks after the Katrina devastated New Orleans. Since 2005 they had been living in a house built by Habitat for Humanity.

We really don’t know the true background of this family. …This is a tragic event surrounded by mystery and public deception

– said Arnott.

According to the statement of 26-year-old Nicholas Godejohn, who confessed in killing Dee Dee, that was his girlfriend Gypsy Blanchard who made him to commit the murder, when he came to Springfield for a visit.

He asked her at one point if she was sure she wanted him to kill Clauddinnea and Gypsy said yes

– the statement read.

Godejohn admitted stabbing Dee Dee in her bed while she was sleeping. Gypsy in her turn was at home at the moment of murdering and she admitted knowing that it would occur. However she did nothing to stop her boyfriend or contact police. Instead, Gypsy was the one who gave Godejohn a knife and later helped to clean up his blood when he told her, he cut his finger on the knife, the police stated.

The murderers, who are currently in custody in Wisconsin, escaped from the scene with the stolen cash from Dee Dee’s bedroom.

Besides, Gypsy’s age hasn’t been yet investigated as she had been using several dates of birth on public records, so she can be from 19 to 23 years old.

Both defendants are to be extradited to Missouri.
The bond at $1m each was posted by a judge.
