However, the decision was very hard to be made, because social opinion divided into two even parts. Supporters of death penalty argued that the death penalty should remain as a reminder for the most dreadful crimes, although such a punishment is a rare case in the judicial practice. The opposers of the penalty provided a variety of arguments, beginning from the religious ones and ending with the economic disadvantages – capital punishment requires money, which taxpayers are not likely to pay.

Finally, the best counterargument for opponents of anti-death draft law was that one expressed by the deputy from the Republican Party, Sen. Laure Ebke. She said, that if government is not able to care for our health properly, how can we authorize it to decide about our lives and deaths?
