Amtrack made an announcement on Tuesday about the cameras that will be installed inside the train. This decision was made after the deadly accident with one of Amtrack’s trains half a month ago.

First of all cameras will be installed on the trains that service big cities like Washington or New York and on high-speed Acela trains. Future plans of the company include installing cameras aboard all the trains in the company.

One of the reasons for such a decision was the uncertainty of the investigators about what was happening inside the drivers cab when the train crashed. A piece of confusion was brought into the case by the train engineer, Brandon Bostian, that stated that he didn’t remember anything unusual before the crash.

As for now, Amtrack trains are equipped with outside cameras and a black box that records all the activity on the train.

Meanwhile, investigators are taking a look at the human factor, that may have caused the crash. One of the Amtrack officials told the news that their trains could increase the speed only when the driver pushes the speed control lever, and this action is being recorded on the black box. Amtrack also said that they don’t suspect the train driver in the crash as he has been working on this position for three years and was familiar with the part of the railroad, where the crash took place.
