Almost 20 different-purposed ships from Italy and Malta responded to the SOS-signal and rushed to help. The place of the accident, located on the distance of 120 miles from the Lampedusa island, showed rescuers the horrible picture of lamenting people and floating corpses. The officials informed that the rescue boats managed to save only 28 migrants of more than 950 that were aboard.

Another similar catastrophe happened near Italian coast in 2013. More than 300 people died back then. The Italian coast guard forces managed to rescue only 150 migrants out of 500.

The Prime Minister of Malta said that the horrible events that Europe faces nowadays are huge and if such a big community as Europe continues to close it’s eyes on these incidents, the time will come, when it will be judged by history. After the disaster on Sunday, Europe Authorities said that they will discuss this situation on the meeting in Luxembourg.

The Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi, said that the possible root of the problem lies in Libya which is the point from where migrants are trying to reach Europe. After the dawn of Moammar Gaddaffi’s regime in 2011, Libya turned into the base of many Islamic Terrorists. And Italy is reviewing the possibility of sending the military mission to Libya.

If we don’t solve problems in Lybia, we’ll continue facing the incidents we have seen in the last years

– said Renzi.
