The generous couple

The generous couple

One of the most extraordinary will has been registered by the Treasury Department of the USA which is responsible for authorizing funds. The wish to give all the money to the government was expressed in the last will of Peter Petrasek, the immigrant from former Czhehoslovakia. The argument for such a decision could not, unfortunately, be found out as both Peter and his wife, Joan Petrasek, have passed away. Nobody knew about such intentions of Peter or Joan until their death.

Both Peter and Joan moved to the USA to be protected from the atrocities of the Second World War, he – from Czhehoslovakia and she – from Ireland. Peter’s family suffered a lot from that war: his father was taken into Nazi camp, sister died in Dresden. Peter itself was forced to become a child soldier in the Air Forces of Germany. After the immigration he met his wife Joan in Canada and began a new life in the city of Seattle.

Public authorities had to sell Petrasek’s gun and artwork collections. Now they are deciding how to spend this donation accurately and guessing about the reasons which induced the couple to make such a generous decision. “They didn’t have any children, but probably were very thankful to our country for giving them safe and carefree life”, – authorities say.
