Police chased Mario from Marana into Tucson, where it all ended. One of the police officers that arrived on the call – Michael Rapiejko stroke Valencia with his patrol car on purpose of disarming him. As seen on the video, Valencia had been hit from behind and thrown flying into the air for a moment. He survived with numerous injuries and was sent to hospital. Later he was released home. And after two recovery days he had been taken to jail.

The head of Tucson police department – Terry Rozema supported Rapiejko’s actions. “We had two ways: let him go a little further and give him a chance to hurt somebody or put an end to this and stop him right now. In the future, we might take a look back and see that thank’s to Rapiejko’s fast and accurate decision we have a happy end now: the society is safe, the police officers are safe and even the perpetrator is safe after these events” – he commented.

But Valencia’s lawyer – Michelle Cohen-Metzger disagreed with the actions of the police officers. “Every moment on the video indicates on a clear overuse of force. It is a miracle that my client survived that accident. And it is ridiculous by the police to outspeak that they have saved my client’s life after almost having killed him”.

The whole event had been captured on video cameras mounted on police cars that have arrived on the call.

Valencia has been accused of 15 crimes including armed robbery, aggravated attack and possession of a dangerous weapon without the permission.
