Loretta Sanchez after having just entered the race for the seat in US Senate, being vacated by Barbara Boxer, was caught mocking Native Americans while talking to a group of Indian Americans.

While narrating about her confusion because of a future meeting with an Indian American, Mrs Sanchez said, “I am going to his office, thinking that I am going to meet with a…” — then she put her hand over mouth and made the noise that is the worn-out imitation of a Native American war cry and then continued — “Right? … because he said Indian American.”

Uduak-Joe Ntuke, a party delegate from Long Beach who filmed the footage of Sanchez, said that her guest was described as insensitive and undemocratic by several people in the room.

Kamala Harris, Sanchez’s main rival for the US Senate nomination, told the reporters that Sanchez’s actions were shocking added that there was no place for that in their public discourse.

When one of the reporters asked her to comment her gesture, she ran away and slipped into a building with the words that she had no time.

On Sunday, while speaking to delegates the following day, she publicly apologized for saying something offensive. Then the congresswoman added that everyone made mistakes and defended her record on civil rights, human rights and Native American rights. Besides, she said that American Indians had a great presence in the country and many of them were supporting their election.
