Since mankind first found out about radioactivity and nuclear energy, it couldn’t have left the desire to get lots of free energy and this desire caused a few mistakes that later led to major accidents with thousands of people dead, tens of thousands injured and even more feeling the consequences of the disasters, many years after they took place. Today’s list of five most destructive nuclear catastrophes includes the ones, ranked within the INES scale (International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale). According to this scale, level 0 is assigned to disasters that didn’t cause much damage and level 7 corresponds to major damage to the surrounding environment.
