European Union isn’t satisfied with Google’s search politics

EU competition comissioner Margrethe Vestager claimed that Google used it’s position on the web to promote “special” products and gave the company ten weeks to provide an official response.

EU accused Google of it’s incorrect behavior that isn’t compatible with normal competitive behavior.

EU competition comissioner Margrethe Vestager claimed that Google used it’s position on the web to promote “special” products and gave the company ten weeks to provide an official response. She also said that she launched a separate investigation connected with Google bundling applications and services for Android OS. Ms Vestager also added that EU will continue to monitor the situation around Google and study other actions that competitors made complaints about.

This investigation can lead to billions of euros of penalties.

EU studied antitrust statements from different companies including the international giant – Microsoft. One of the main accusations made against Google was the statement that Google places advertisements from its own shop before the ads from other companies.

Ms Vestager said that she wasn’t asking the company to change the search algorithms that Google service uses.

But this incident can make an influence on how EU will handle possible future cases about other Google services such as map or hotel services

– the EU commissioner added.

Meanwhile the Google search chief Amit Singhal thinks that there is a strong competition between many companies like Amazon or eBay and Google’s shopping results couldn’t affect the competition in any way.
