The tragedy knocked on the doors of Simon Cowell’s family as his mother passed away this weekend. Due to that tragic event, X Factor auditions have been postponed for some time.

Julie Cowell passed away at the age of 89 on Sunday, July 5, according to a statement of the family.

Due to the fact that Simon Cowell is one of the X Factor judges, auditions for the ITV talent show have been cancelled. A spokesman for Syco Entertainment stated that X Factor auditions was scheduled to begin in Manchester but will no longer continue. They were to last for four days in Manchester and then for seven days in London since 14 July.

The first auditions were expected to include well-known previous judges such as Cowell and fellows Rita Ora, Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini as well as the new Olly Murs and Caroline Flack.

During the announcement that Mrs Cowell’s has died on Sunday, the family also added that their hearts became broken and they all would miss her terribly.

It was said in a statement:

Today our beloved mum Julie passed away. Anyone who had met her would know what a truly special and kind lady she was. We are heartbroken and will miss her terribly, but she is now at peace.

We would like to thank the media for kindly respecting Julie’s privacy throughout and we politely request continued privacy for the entire family at this particularly difficult time
