TV Network Fox has approved that the 15th season of US talent show is going to be the last one. It will be aired in 2016.
Star judges Harry Connick Jr, Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez, as well as the host Ryan Seacrest, will return to the famous TV show.
The last season is said to be a “celebratory event”. It will give credits to ex-participants, winners and fans. In 2002 Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell launched American Idol, which was based on their worldwide famous UK show – Pop Idol.
The original judges of the show, Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, made a track into showbiz for their contestants including The X Factor and The Voice.
Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks and Adam Lambert became famous due to the TV show. Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Steven Tyler, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres were taking part in the show as celebrity judges.
A Brian Dunkleman’s co-host Seacrest was brought to fame thanks to American Idol.
The show was on the edge of its popularity in 2006 when it gained 36 million viewers in front of the TV. But since then, it have been losing viewers’ interest day by day.
According to ratings, the current season gained 11.6 million people to watch the singing contest.
Fox announced that it launched a TV schedule for autumn which includes the next season of hit hip-hop Empire, The Last Man on Earth and Rob Lowe’s new series The Grinder. Ryan Murphy’s comedy-horror series Scream Queens, Gotham and The X-Files are also in the list.
