The King of Blues and just phenomenal US musician, who died in LA on 14 May, stated in his last wish that he wanted to be buried in Indianola, Mississippi, the state where he lived in his childhood.

The King of Blues and just phenomenal US musician, who died in LA on 14 May, stated in his last wish that he wanted to be buried in Indianola, Mississippi, the state where he lived in his childhood.

So the funeral tool place in Indianola, Mississippi. All friends and family filled past King’s open coffin at the beginning of the service. There was an embroidered image of BB King’s guitar inside of the coffin, on it’s lid.

The eulogy was delivered by the Rev Herron Wilson, who said that the story of King’s life proved to the world that despite severe circumstances, it was possible to triumph. Then he added that those hands that once picked cotton at the plantations, would someday pick guitar strings on both national and international stages. Around 500 people congregated to pay tribute to the King of the Blues at the Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church. However, for those who couldn’t get inside the building, more than 200, there was a life broadcast of the funeral nearby.

The US President Barack Obama sent the letter that was read aloud at the service on Saturday.
Among numerous powerful words about BB King, Obama mentioned that the blues had lost its king while America had lost a legend.

The President stated that had nobody worked so hard as BB King and at the same time anyone hadn’t done more to spread the gospel of the blues.

BB may be gone but that thrill will be with us forever. And there’s going to be one killer blues session in heaven tonight.

– wrote Barack Obama.

Besides, the tribute of Stevie Wonder was also read at the service. The famous singer stated there that King would remain the king of the blues forever.

BB King was buried  at the BB King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center. That Center was opened in 2008 to tell the story of BB’s live.
