Veteran of film industry, famous actor Sir John Hurt reveals he has been diagnosed with an early-stage pancreatic cancer.

Veteran of film industry, famous actor Sir John Hurt reveals he has been diagnosed with an early-stage pancreatic cancer.

The 75-year-actor, despite that terrifying news stated he has been rather optimistic about his future and added he would continue working in spite of even cancer.

For his starring in famous 1980’s The Elephant Man John Hurt was nominated for Oscar.

I am undergoing treatment and am more than optimistic about a satisfactory outcome, as indeed is the medical team.

– stated the Oscar-nominated actor.

Sir John claimed that he would continue his professional work no matter what, even if it is cancer.

I am continuing to focus on my professional commitments and will shortly be recording Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell (one of life’s small ironies!) for BBC Radio 4.

– admitted the actor, who performed the War Doctor in a word-widely known series Doctor Who in 2013.

Sir John explained his wish to made a public announcement about his recently diagnosed disease. He said that he was always rather open about how he conducts his life, so in such kind of spirit Hurt wanted to make a statement. And he made one, which revealed his early-stage pancreatic cancer.

In November this year his new Sky Atlantic drama The Last Panthers is to be released. Besides, he has also several upcoming projects to be released next year, including new Tarzan movie.

Sir John Hurt is well-known for starring in such films as Dwayne Johnson’s Hercules that came to the screens last year, and Ridley Scott’s Alien, for which he was Bafta-nominated.

However, his best appearances were of course in  1978’s Midnight Express, for which he was also nominated for Oscar, and the 1975 TV series The Naked Civil Servant. For the last one he got a Bafta TV award.

Although the greatest his role was obviously in the The Elephant Man, where he was starring as the deformed Joseph Merrick.

Earlier this year Sir John Hurt was knighted for his services to drama.
