The upcoming Sam Smith’s appearance at Radio 1’s Big Weekend has been cancelled, since the singer undergoes vocal chord surgery next week.

Smith left a message to all his fans on Instagram page, where it was written that even in spite of ten long days of trying to get his vocals better, they unfortunately haven’t recovered enough, so the surgery appeared to be required and urgent as well. Also he added that he was very upset and devastated because of missing all the events and performances he was meant to be playing at and which had been already appointed.sam-smith1

But, Smith stated that doctors assured him about the returning just in 6-8 weeks, so he cannot wait to sing for all his fans as soon as possible. 71166-show-94389

Later he informed that he had his operation booked for next week and with every new morning Smith appeared to be more and more afraid. However, he is sure that after that 8-week period of time and full recovery he will be able to sing like never before, so it’s worth it. But firstly of course, he won’t be allowed even to speak for three weeks after the operation.438547-91a4dbf6-3c25-11e4-b4eb-3aaea0238ac5

Smith was due to perform a number of gigs in the US and Europe as well.

Sam Smith will miss out the Radio 1’s Big Weekend, which is taking place in Norwich on 23 and 24 May.

Radio 1 stated that they are really sorry for all those fans, who were looking forward to seeing Sam’s live performance. They also added that everyone at Radio 1 wishes him a speedy recovery.
