Pitch Perfect 2 film has earned a great sum of money, approximately $70.3m at the US box office, leaving behind Mad Max: Fury Road.

During the first weekend the comedy follow-up earned more than the first part had earned during its entire run in cinemas. Nick Carpou described the success of the sequel as literally “amazing”.

The film was directed by an actress Elizabeth Banks and it is the highest opening for a beginner in directing films.

A chief of domestic distribution in Universal Carpou said that people had loved the first part of the movie so it gained about $65m. He also thinks that expanding the popularity of the second part of the film is really amazing.

Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, who play their original roles, along with newcomer Hailee Steinfeld take part in the film. They are members of the fictional singing group The Barden Bellas.

During the film we can see the competition between The Barden Bellas and German Das Sound Machine in an international singing contest.

Mad Max received positive reviews after the premiere at Cannes Film Festival last week but it only earned $44.4m.

Warner Bros’ Dan Fellman said that a lot of people choose film to watch accounting on its reviews. He called the film “an incredible ride this is that it’s going to propel us right into the meat of the summer”.

The price of Pitch Perfect 2 production is $29m, while Mad Max: Fury Road costs about $150m so it remains a long way from profit.
