Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter E’Dena Hines was found critically injured near her home on West 162nd Street, New York. The fatal incident happened early Sunday morning, August 16.
The 33-year-old got numerous fatal wounds in chest, so when she was found and transported to the Harlem Hospital, the doctors said it was too late.
According to police the 30-year-old Lamar Davenport, who actually was a boyfriend of the victim, was arrested at the scene as numerous eyewitnesses stated that he was the one who stabbed Freeman’s granddaughter to death.
Davenport was accused of second-degree murder on Monday. Besides, he had psychological tests on adequacy, because, as eyewitnesses said, the process of him stabbing Hines looked more like some kind of ‘exorcism’ than an ordinary murder.
The man was reportedly screaming:
Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!
Morgan Freeman paid tribute to his beloved granddaughter E’Dena Hines. He stated:
The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.
Hines was a granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw. Despite the fact that Freeman and Bradshaw divorced in 1979, the famous Hollywood actor has always talked about Hines as his own granddaughter.
Morgan Freeman also mourned Hines’s tragic death via Facebook, writing:
I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
