The tragic accident happened in Johannesburg on Monday. A big lioness moved towards Mrs Chappell, while she took photos from the passenger seat of an SUV, and then lunged at her, attacking the woman through an open window, according to the Scott Simpson, a manager of the Lion Park.

He also stated that despite the strict forbid to open the windows in the car, their company had all them open during the whole trip through the safari.

They had their windows all the way down, which is strictly against policy. The lion bit the lady through the window

– admitted Mr Simpson.

The man who was driving SUV tried to rescue poor tourist without waiting for the park staff and emergency crew, but it was to late. When medics arrived at the scene, they stated that the woman had been already dead.

Beside ‘Game of Thrones’ she had also participated in several Hollywood blockbusters such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Divergent.

After publicity became aware of that dreadful accident, her sister Jennifer wrote in a Facebook post:

Her energy and passion could not be contained by mere continents or oceans. She was very much loved and shared her love for life with those she met.
