The film will be based on a book The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic And Madness At The Fair That Changed America, written by Erik Larson in 2003.

Leonardo DiCaprio will obviously play the main character Dr HH Holmes, who is a serial killer. The story transfer us to 1893 when the World’s Fair takes place in Chicago. Holmes uses this one of the world’s famous event of that time to lure his victims and then to kill them.

According to Holmes, he took the lives of 27 human beings but as it later turns out their number was up to 200.

After the previous projects with Scorsese, which list includes The Wolf of Wall Street and The Departed and Gangs of New York, it will be the sixth time of Hollywood’s couple cooperation.

As it was previously reported, the rights for The Devil in the White City were bought by DiCaprio in far 2010.

Talking about the script, it tells us the story of crazy serial killer Dr HH Holmes who turns the old Chicago building into his own castle of tortures, which was later called ‘Murder Castle’. The building had a gas chamber, a crematorium and a dissecting table, but the curiosity is that Holmes was also known for selling his victims’ skeletons for scientific studies.

Billy Ray, who created the script to The Hunger Games and Captain Philips, is writing the screenplay to The Devil in the White City.
