Taylor Swift won eight of the 14 categories in which she was nominated after opening the show with the premiere of her star-studded new video, Bad Blood – which features the likes of Ellie Goulding, Selena Gomez, Jessica Alba and Cindy Crawford.
The female singer, who has successfully transitioned from country artist to pop star, got the prize for best album and also won top Billboard 200 album for “1989” and top female artist Sunday night.
After defeating One Direction, Ariana Grande, Sam Smith and Katy Perry and winning the top prize, Swift exclaimed “Oh, this is such a good night!”. Then she added that earlier that morning she had watched her brother Austin graduated from Notre Dame and said that she dedicated her victory to anyone who was graduating that year.
Swift, who won the top Hot 100 artist and the fan-voted artist achievement award, kissed Calvin Harris, rumored to be her boyfriend, on the cheek and gave him a hug at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Later she told to the audience, she was very excited to show the world her new music video ‘Bad Blood’, which words are rumored to be about Swift’s friendship with Perry.
The night’s first award for top duo/group won One Direction that recently downsized to four members. They also won top touring artist and then Liam Payne said, there was one more person to share that with Zayn Malik, who recently left the band.
Iggy Azalea won top rap song for “Fancy” and got top streaming artist and rap artist award as well. She, Pharrell and Smith, who didn’t attend the show because of having vocal surgery, also won three awards – the most after Swift.
