A premiere of film about Amy Winehouse took place this Saturday in Cannes. The documentary was said to be really powerful and it disclosed all dark sides of fame.

At one point of the film, which was shot by famous British director Asif Kapadia, a young teenage singer says that she doesn’t think she is going to be famous. She also mentions that she is not sure she can handle all this.

Being worldwide popular, Amy Winehouse died in July 2011 of accidental alcohol poisoning. She was only 27 years old.

During the film the singer makes an impression that she can foresee her fate and this makes the documentary even more poignant.

The main director questioned about 80 Amy’s friends and family members. He based the whole film on their memories about Amy from the early childhood till death.

In the film Amy comes out as a vibrant woman with both great voice and personality. Her personal lyrics made her famous all over the world. But sudden fame made it more and more difficult for Winehouse to face deep depression, bulimia, drugs and alcohol obsession.

After the second album “Back to Black”, the madness of media over Amy became uncontrolled. Her behavior made hundreds of tabloid news.

Winehouse’s parents appeared in film but they criticized it, saying that it is “unbalanced”. They also think that the film shows that Amy’s family did too little to help the star. Parents also didn’t plan to attend the premiere of the film on Saturday.

Despite all this, the film shows that people who loved Amy did their best to help the singer. Although their attempt to curb her demons failed.
